Import Guides

Best Products To Import From China To Pakistan

Not a list of magic products. A way of deciding which products are worth your money, and which ones quietly lose it.

1

Check The Value To Size Ratio

Freight is charged on space and weight. Cheap and bulky is how margins disappear.

2

Check The Duty Position

A high duty rate can undo a good factory price. Look it up before you fall in love with a product.

3

Check Who You Are Competing With

If ten established importers already sell it on price, that is not your first product.

4

Check You Can Actually Sell It

Landing the goods is the easy half. Have the route to market before you order.

Why Product Lists Are Mostly Useless

Search for the best products to import and you get the same lists everywhere: phone accessories, LED lights, kitchen gadgets. The lists are not wrong exactly, they are just useless, because by the time a product is on a list like that, plenty of people are already importing it.

What matters is not the category. It is whether the specific product works for you, at your order size, with your route to market, at the landed cost you can actually achieve. The same product can be a good business for one importer and a loss for another.

So rather than a list, here is the filter we would apply.

The Value To Size Test

Freight is charged by space and by weight. A product that is cheap to buy and large to ship spends its margin on the water.

Compare the factory price to the volume it occupies. Small, light, reasonably priced goods survive freight well. Phone accessories, small electronics, tools and beauty items generally pass this test. Furniture, large plastic goods and anything mostly made of air generally does not, unless the value is high enough to carry it.

This one test eliminates a lot of tempting-looking products before you waste time on them.

The Duty Test

Look up the HS code and check the duty position before you get attached to a product. A category that attracts high duty, or extra regulatory duty, can turn an excellent factory price into an unremarkable landed price.

This is also where the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement is worth checking. If your product line carries a concession, that is a real advantage over the same goods sourced elsewhere, and it can be the difference between a product working and not working.

The Categories That Tend To Work

Consumer electronics and phone accessories move constantly, replace often, and carry enough value for their size. The trade-off is that quality varies enormously and the category punishes bad sourcing hard, because a failed charger costs you the customer, not just the unit.

Home and kitchen goods have steady, non-seasonal demand. Watch the packing on anything fragile, because breakage rates decide your real margin.

Beauty and personal care items are small, high margin and repeat-purchase. Check regulatory requirements carefully on anything that goes on skin.

Automotive accessories have a large installed base of vehicles behind them and the buyers are practical rather than brand-driven. Fitment specifics matter more than they look like they do.

Sports and fitness goods do well but run seasonal, so the timing of your order matters as much as the choice of product.

The Products That Look Better Than They Are

Anything fragile, unless you are willing to specify and pay for proper packing. Breakage is not an occasional accident, it is a line in your costing.

Anything with a fast fashion or trend cycle. Sea freight takes weeks, and a trend can be over before your container clears.

Anything needing certification you have not researched. Electrical goods, anything for children, anything applied to skin, anything near food. The certification is not the problem, being surprised by it is.

And anything you are buying because the margin looked good in a spreadsheet, without having spoken to a single person who would actually buy it from you.

Start Narrow, Then Widen

The most common mistake is ordering a wide range on a first import to see what sells. It sounds sensible and it is expensive. You end up with small quantities of everything, no buying power on any of it, and a warehouse full of slow movers.

Pick one product you have a reason to believe in. Order a small quantity. Sell it properly. Then use what you learned to pick the second one.

Importers who grow steadily almost always got there by going deep on a few lines rather than wide on many.

Choosing Products

What are the most profitable products to import from China to Pakistan?

There is no fixed answer, because profitability depends on your landed cost, your order size and your route to market. The products that work tend to be small, reasonably valued for their size, not stuck with high duty, and genuinely in demand where you sell.

Why does product size matter so much?

Because freight is charged on space and weight. A cheap, bulky product can spend most of its margin on shipping, while a small, higher value product carries its freight cost easily.

Should I import a wide range or focus on a few products?

Focus. A wide first order means small quantities of everything, no buying power, and slow movers taking up capital. Go deep on a few lines and widen once you know what sells.

Which categories should a first-time importer avoid?

Fragile goods unless you are prepared to specify packing, fast-moving trend products that sea freight cannot keep up with, and anything requiring certification you have not researched.

How do I know if there is demand before I order?

Talk to people who would actually buy it, check what is already being sold and at what price, and run a small trial order before committing to volume. Spreadsheet margins are not demand.
